Thousands flock National Youth Trade Fair

Thousands of Kenyans flocked into KICC to attend the three days National Youth Trade Fair that closed on Saturday July 2. The fair, dubbed Plan Poa, was a blend of business, music, drama and friendship. In the words of an exhibitor, it was one big productive party.

Hundreds of entrepreneurs who had travelled from upcountry to connect with thousands of prospective clients were all joy as they recounted their experiences. They did roaring business, made useful contacts, got opportunity to visit the city, met celebrities they have only seen on TV and shared business ideas. The exhibitors were able to interact and exchange ideas because they were booked in one hotel.

The annual event attracted over 6,000 guests who included shoppers and youth interested in getting information on how they could benefit from the Fund. Others were prospective partners of the Fund as well as researchers in the area of entrepreneurship.

While opening the fair Youth Fund Board Chairman Mr. James Singh promised that the best ideas exhibited would be sponsored to participate in international fairs, so as to link the young entrepreneurs to the export market.

On his part the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mwatata Juma Mwangala explained that the exhibitors were selected from district and provincial trade fairs organized by the Fund. He said that from this August the Fund will organize trade fairs at county level.
