Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza is introduced to Isaiah Oyoo, a Kenyan youth by Youth and Sports Minister Prof. Hellen sambilli. The Burundi President while on a visit to Kenya recently visited Youth Enterprise Development Fund funded projects which included Mr. Oyoo’s weaving project on Ngong road
H.E President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi concluded a three-day State visit to Kenya on Friday 3rd April 2009. President Nkurunziza, who was in the country at the invitation of President Mwai Kibaki, was accompanied by a high level delegation comprising of ministers and senior officials. During the visit, the two Heads of State discussed bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest.
President Nkurunziza and his delegation visited various investment and project facilities including the Kenya Ports Authority, the Kenya Pipeline Corporation, Bamburi Cement Factory, Mabati rolling Mills and several successful Youth projects that are funded by Youth Enterprise Development Fund.
The Burundi Head of State also toured Kenyatta National Hospital and Karen Hospital in Nairobi. Thereafter, President Nkurunziza met Kenyan members of the private sector in an interactive forum where they discussed business opportunities between the two countries.
The President of Burundi hailed the existing warm and fraternal relationship between Kenya and Burundi, saying that Kenya and Burundi have a lot in common, including being members of the East African Community.
Acknowledging his remarks, President Mwai Kibaki welcomed the significant progress achieved so far in the peace process between the Government of Burundi and the Forces for National Liberation (FNL). President Kibaki pledged to support the peace process and post-conflict reconstruction in Burundi.
