YEDF Chairman goes Mashinani

Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) Board, Chairman Mr. Ronald Osumba has been visiting various youth owned projects funded by YEDF in a bid to understand the benefits accrued from the Fund by youth at the grass.

The YEDF Mashinani visits have also seen the chairman pay courtesy calls to various County Governments to explore partnership opportunities on matters youth enterprise development in Kenya.

The latest visit by the chairman was in the County of Choice, Homa Bay County, where he was accompanied by the Fund CEO Mr. Emmanuel Odero among other staff members. The team held discussions with the county Governor, H.E. Cyprian Awiti to discuss areas of partnership with the Youth Enterprise Development Fund.

Amongst key points of interest were, review of the LPO Financing model for youth taking advantage of Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO), train of 4700 entrepreneurs, build 50 kiosks in the market for startup entrepreneurs, Develop the fish farming value chain in partnership with the Beach Management Units.

According to Osumba, the board has identified Homa Bay County as a model county for West and Nyanza region. Through this partnership the board will develop a model for engagement with counties in the region.

Later the team toured Youth Fund projects and specifically the fish caging pilot project commissioned 2 weeks ago in Mfangano Island to address the stock deficit that has allowed Chinese to creep into the market. With this project YEDF target to created opportunities for groups in the county.
